Stroke Carers Support Group

Stroke Carers Support Group

This service is primarily to aid carers of stroke clients to come together to share experiences and seek support, information and guidance. These groups meet regularly and are attached to the Stroke Scheme.

How does it work?

The groups meet regularly and provide information, emotional support and assistance to the carers of stroke clients. A carer can be a relative, partner or friend of someone who has had a stroke and who is involved in caring for them. While every situation is different, it is helpful to meet with other carers who very often can understand what you are going through as they have had similar experiences. Talking to others can help to make you feel less isolated. There are a range of activities:

- Information on stroke and other help topics
- Opportunity to meet and talk to other carers
- Signposting for further help i.e. practical and financial support
- Talks from various speakers
- Social events
