Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a 6 to 8 week programme for people who have a long term lung condition such as COPD. The programme combines exercise classes and health education.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation aims to improve quality of life by increasing exercise tolerance and reducing shortness of breath. This helps the person resume daily activities that they haven't been able to do because of breathing problems.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation also teaches participants about their lungs and how to manage better in daily life with a lung condition.
People are generally referred onto a Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programme by their GP or hospital consultant.
