Cardiac risk factor assessments - This is one of the most popular nurse assessments. It offers a cholesterol test, with full lipid profile, blood pressure measurement, and lifestyle evaluation. This takes about 20 minutes and is also available at NICHS offices on Dublin Road. Ring reception on 028 90 320184 to make an appointment.

Cholesterol and body composition - This assessment takes around 30 minutes and includes the cardiac risk factor assessment, as above, as well as body fat measurement.

Quick cholesterol - These assessments are usually carried out at health fairs where queues quickly form to see the nurses. This test measures cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugars.

Health and lifestyle assessment - These are popular in workplaces where employers encourage employees to get a personal "MOT". Usually an hour-long, these comprehensive health checks include full cardiac risk factor assessment, as well as tests for flexibility, strength and general lifestyle advice.

The nurses discuss the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and general information. These talks are tailored to suit the particular audience, e.g. risks of smoking to young mothers. Talks can be given in conjunction with health checks.
