Hearty Lunch

HEARTY LUNCH

It's the most important lunch date of 2011!

NI Chest Heart & Stroke wants people all over Northern Ireland and even further afield to host a lunch for friends, charge a modest entrance fee, and donate the proceeds to our work.

The Hearty Lunch is on Friday June 17, so why not start planning your own event now? The Hearty Lunch is being supported by Kingsmill, Northern Ireland's favourite loaf.

TOP NI CHEFS HEARTY LUNCH RECIPES

Some of Northern Ireland's top chefs are supporting the Hearty Lunch by providing their favourite lunch recipes to help inspire your Hearty Lunch on June 17th.

Jenny Bristow, Paul Rankin, Tony O'Neill of the Merchant Hotel and Danny Millar of Balloo House have provided NICHS with some simple and challenging healhty lunch recipes to suit all people in preparing your Hearty Lunch.

To see the recipes go to the Hearty Lunch Recipes on the main menu or click here.

HEARTY CHALLENGE

We're also issuing a challenge for people to host the most extreme lunch, the furthest from Northern Ireland, the highest, the lowest, the strangest, the fastest, the slowest. You name it; we want to hear about it.

All the latest news and events on the Hearty Lunch will be posted on our Facebook page, just click on the facebook link.

The flagship event is being held to mark our 65th anniversary. It's hoped it will become an annual date on the calendar and will be one of our biggest fundraising events of the year.

HOW TO GET STARTED

So, what do you have to do to become a part of it? Firstly, mark June 17 in your diary and get it into the diaries of your guests. They could be friends, family, work colleagues, club members or members of your church or other organisation.

If June 17 isn't suitable, you could hold it on another day. But ideally everyone will sit down to eat at 1pm on the Friday to make it Northern Ireland's biggest ever simultaneous lunch.

Then, work out what you'll offer your guests to eat. The idea is to have a healthy, cost effective meal and seek a minimum donation from each person attending, but if you want to push the boat out in the hope of encouraging bigger donations, feel free. You might also want to hold other fundraising opportunities at the lunch, such as a raffle.
