Leaving a Legacy

One of the most valuable ways you can contribute to the vital work of N I Chest Heart and Stroke is by leaving us a gift in your Will. Leaving a Will, takes care of your family's welfare and provides an opportunity to consider leaving a lasting gift to support the work of NI Chest Heart & Stroke. Your gift can help change the lives of the many people we help each year throughout Northern Ireland.

There are a few ways you can help NICHS when making a Will.
- A Residual bequest is what is left, financially of your estate after all other gifts, taxes, debts etc have been paid out. Ideally this is the most effective way to divide your estate, as inflation can erode the value of your gift over time.

- A Pecuniary bequest is a specific sum of money which you might wish to leave.
- A Specific bequest: If you wish to leave, property or jewelry or similar.
Gifts left in a Will to charity are free from Inheritance tax, which may help if your final estate exceeds the current tax allowance of £325,000. The total amount of the gift is deducted from the estate before inheritance tax is calculated.
If you would like to leave a gift to NI Chest Heart & Stroke in your Will, please contact a solicitor for advice. If you have already made a will, you can add to, or change it, at any time by adding a codicil. Your solicitor can advise on this.
