Paul Robinson Journalism Bursary Awarded

BBC Northern Ireland and the National Union of Journalists, in association with NI Chest Heart and Stroke have awarded the first joint bursary in memory of award winning BBC NI journalist Paul Robinson, who died in February 2009, to David Thompson a journalism student at the University of Ulster in Coleraine.
Judges, David Lynas, BBC and Michael Fisher, RTE said: "The judges have decided after careful consideration that the inaugural Paul Robinson Bursary should be awarded to David Thompson, a student at the University of Ulster, Coleraine. Congratulations to David and thanks to all those who submitted entries."
The bursary of £1,000 also includes a period of work experience at the BBC and is open to all students on NVQ Level 4 Journalism courses in Northern Ireland and to all first year students on the BA in Journalism at the University of Ulster.
